About This Event

Etiuda&Anima is Poland’s oldest film festival focusing on artistic animation and short films by both professional and novice filmmakers. The festival also presents the work of film students from all parts of the world that cannot be seen at other reviews and does not find its way into regular distribution. This year, 25 short features and documentaries from film and art schools will compete in the ETIUDA competition, 55 short animations from all over the world will be screened in the ANIMA competition, and images awarded last season’s Oscar and Golden Globe or honoured at the Annecy festival will be screened in the brand-new ANIAMA 60′ + competition for full-length pictures. The annual Outstanding Artist and Educator Award will be presented to the Japanese filmmaker Kōji Yamamura – on this occasion, we prepared screenings of films by the laureate and his students. As part of the ‘Farewells’ cycle, we will revisit short animations made by David Lynch and works of the British animator Phil Mulloy. Guests at the ‘Self-Portraits of Animation Creators’ will be Simone Massi from Italy and Lea Vidaković from Serbia – this cycle will include meetings with the creators and exhibitions of their work (Black Wall and Family Portrait). A special masterclass will be given by Oscar winner Adam Elliot from Australia (his Memoir of a Snail will compete in the ANIAMA 60’+ competition). The programme of the event also includes the ‘Green Etudia&Anima’ section, comprising a block of animations on environmental themes, as well as special screenings with audio description for the visually impaired.
