Nordic Streams

The north is calling again! Organised in collaboration between the Academy of Music in Kraków and the Jagiellonian University, the concert will for the second time take us into the world of the stunning but harsh Scandinavian countryside, the great Romantic pianism of Norway and Icelandic melodies hummed in the glow of the aurora borealis. We will hear the famous Finlandia of Jean Sibelius performed by the student symphony orchestra conducted by Maciej Tworek, Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor with the Icelandic-Polish pianist Mikołaj Ólafur Frach playing the piano, or Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson’s Heyr himna smiður, one of the most beautiful Icelandic songs in the interpretation of the Camerata Jagiellonica Jagiellonian University Academic Choir led by Janusz Wierzgacz.
